Kayaking in Elkhorn Slough

When

  • Meet at the launch site at 9:30 AM. We expect to depart from the outfitter at about 10:00 for a three hour kayak trip.

Sign Up

  • Send email to saying you would like to attend
  • Send a check for $60 (includes equipment and guide) for two to:
    • Rick Lougee
    • 14520 Gunston Way
    • San Jose, CA 95124
  • Checks must be received by October 25 to reserve a spot
  • If there is a limit on the number of people, priority will be determined by date and time of postmark 
  • If you haven't already done so, follow the New Member instructions
  • You also need to fill out the Kayak Connection Liability Form

Where

Take Hwy 1 South to Moss landing (in the direction of the PG&E smoke stacks). Be prepared to turn right off Hwy 1 after passing the Moss Landing State Beach entrance. You will see a sign for the Kayak Connection and Elkhorn Yacht Club. After you turn off Hwy 1, make an immediate left into the gravel lot. Park alongside the fence.

According to the Yahoo Map from Los Gatos, plan on:

  • 44 Miles
  • One hour and three minutes (not counting Highway 17 congestion)
  • We recommend an 8:15 AM departure

What to Bring

Bring the following items when you rent or when you
come for a trip:

  • Windbreaker
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Snack
  • Beverage
  • Camera
  • Binoculars
  • Wear: synthetic or fleece clothing for kayaking
    (not cotton or jeans)
  • Towel (leave in car)
  • Change of clothes (leave in car)
  • Kayak Connection provides:

    • Boat, paddle
    • Sprayskirt, life jacket
    • Wetsuit, paddling jacket
    • Backrest for open decks
    • Pump, paddle float for closed decks
